Michael
Parkes is America's leading Magic Realist painter and printmaker. After
college, he was appointed a lecturer in graphic techniques first at Kent
State University and later in Florida. He taught at the university from
1965 to 1970. At the age of 26, he and his wife went on a study trip to
Europe and Asia. Since 1975 Michael Parkes has lived and worked in Spain.
Michael's style is a fluid coalescence of realism and phantasmal visions.
His works are filled with imagery and symbolism from Greek mythology to Indian
folklore. A master artist of figure and composition, Parkes uses a 1906
Heidelberg press to create his limited edition stone lithographs. |
