T.E. Breitenbach's poster Proverbidioms is the best-selling poster in the world. It can be found in over 100 countries. Proverbidioms has been seen in millions of homes as set peices in the popular television shows "Beverly Hills 90210" and "As The World Turns". It can be found as a poster, a high quality art print, a jigsaw puzzle, in numerous books, as a teaching tool in advanced English language comprehension classes, and even on the wall in the New York State Legislative office building. Proverbidioms takes common English expressions, idioms, and shows them illustrated literally. This is a recurring theme in some of the most interesting artwork that I have ever seen. Breitenbach's talent can be seen not only in his paintings, but in his writing and music as well. He has written two musicals, "Hieronymus" (1999) and Little Black Boxes (2000), and plays the guitar. He was asked by Jim Morrison of The Doors to design a triptych for an album of poetry on which Morrison was working (which turned out to be the "An American Prayer" album). Though it was never printed on the album (since it's release was after Morrison's death), it can be seen in Oliver Stone's movie "The Doors". |
