Who Influenced Giger? |
||
As I mentioned on the main page, Giger's influences include Gustav Meyrink, Jean Cocteau, Alfred Kubin, Ernst Fuchs, Salvador Dali, and Hieronymus Bosch. I believe Giger's true artistic spirit was grown from within, as opposed to it's formation being assisted by other artwork (like so many other pieces these days). This is the key to his brilliant, and sometimes shocking originality. However, the styles incorporated in Giger's works definitely, albeit extremely subtly, show that the physical manifestation of his talent was honed using the guidance of the previously mentioned artists. What better a teacher than the surrealist master, Salvador Dali. More in the Pantheon of Surreality |
